Ceremonies
Church
services can take place from Mondays to Fridays but, unlike the UK, not at
weekends or public holidays. All ceremonies are conducted in English and are
fully recognised in UK law.

The
Greek-Orthodox style chapel of St George is on the road to Coral Bay, a
few minutes drive from Paphos. It is adjacent to the St George hotel and has sea
views. The chapel administers both Anglican and Catholic marriage ceremonies.
It is a small venue and has seating for up to 20 guests. There are steps leading
up to the chapel.
The beautiful Byzantine church of Ayia Kyriaki (St Paul) in Paphos
was built in the 11th century. In the grounds of the church are the remains
of what is widely thought to be one of the oldest Christian churches in the
world. Both Anglican and Catholic marriages can take place
here and it is suitable for larger weddings. This is a very popular wedding
and venue and we recommend you book well in advance.
If
you would like to choose a church service please note the following:
- Catholic weddings
~ both must be baptised into Christian faith. A civil ceremony must also take
place prior to a Catholic church wedding ~ this can be on the same day.
- Anglican weddings
~ at least one of the two must be baptised or christened into Christian faith.
A marriage licence is required from the Town Hall prior to the wedding taking place.
- A meeting with the
priest who will conduct the service is normally expected prior to the wedding.
- There is an
additional fee for a
church wedding of approx £300 GBP payable locally ~ this is in addition to
the package prices.
